As a kid, Michael loved those Choose your own Adventure books. As a career he wants the user to feel like they are in charge of exploring, choosing, selecting, and wielding a mighty sword to vanquish a grue. By gluing together the contributions of artists, developers, writers, and strategists to become an experience, he helps make business goals come to life and become fun... or at least easy to use.
He earned his Masters in Human-Computer Interaction from DePaul in 2002, and has made web experiences for just about every industry (advertising, marketing, education, health care, e-commerce, finance, insurance). Some projects include Arctic Home for Coca-Cola, conceiving a new kind of Advertising experience for Facebook, (the comment ad), making work training fun using the techniques of gamification and helping New Yorkers express the stories of their city as New York Writes Itself. He also helped Purina in both defining its corporate site, helped dog owners find places to share with their best buddy at Wagworld, and inspired people to be better cat owners by sharing advice via social connections at Cat Chow.
Michael's motto is "a hard thing in an easy way". The harder we work to refine the experience, the easier it is for people to connect with our ideas.
