For fans of America’s pastime there are few better places to be than Chicago, the home of two of Major League Baseball’s oldest clubs: the Cubs and White Sox. The line has been drawn—North Side or the South Side? Even if you’re on the West Side, you have an allegiance. A hot office topic, this argument needed to be settled. Or, more realistically, given a platform for fans to debate.

Hosted by the Godfather of Chicago sports radio, Chet Coppock, Black and Blue City was a biweekly show with two passionate, loyal fans each representing their favorite ball club. The banter was biting, the topics were varied, and the passion was heated. Pitting a Cubs fan against a Sox fan twice a week in a city that bleeds blue or black proved to be exactly what the people wanted for the long baseball season.

WCIU-TV picked up Black and Blue City and hosted it through their website for the majority of the baseball season. Along the way we took Black and Blue City to the rooftops of Wrigley Field, to beer gardens on the South Side, and straight to the middle of the city in Millennium Park off Michigan Ave.
